Portsmouth Terminal Guide:
Portsmouth Ferry Port - Getting there
and away
Portsmouth is closer to central
London than Dover or the Channel Tunnel,
and has the best road connections of any
UK Channel ferry port.
By Car: From London, take the M3
or A3. From the Midlands take the M3 to
the A34, and from the South West take
the A31. From Bristol and south Wales
take the A36. These roads lead to the
M275, from which an exit road leads
directly to the port.
By Train: There are train services
between Portsmouth and London Waterloo,
taking 85 minutes. There are also
services between London Victoria and
Portsmouth passing through Chichester,
Brighton and Gatwick. From Cardiff the
train passes through Salisbury and
Bristol. Portsmouth stations include
Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth The
Hard Interchange, both of which are
close to the Port.
By Coach: Regular coach services
go from Portsmouth to London Victoria
and Gatwick Airport. From London
on-bound connections can be made to the
rest of the UK.
There is a covered drop off and pick up
area for foot passengers beside the main
passenger terminal which provides
additional space for coaches and taxis.
There is also an allocated coach park
adjacent to the main terminal.
Portsmouth Terminal Information
Baby changing room: There is a
baby-changing facility on the main
concourse and travel centre.
Bar: The Ocean bar is open from
12pm to 2.30pm and from 6pm to 11pm.
Both pounds sterling and Euros are
accepted.
Cafeteria: The Java Café is open
from 5.30am to 11.30pm.
Bureau de change: It is possible
to change money at the Brittany Ferries
Information desk. There is also an
Intercash and Thomas Cook exchange
facility.

Wheelchairs are available in the
terminal.
Left Luggage: Left luggage is
situated behind the port security desk
at the terminal. A charge of £1 per day
is made.

Poole
Terminal Guide:
Poole Ferry Port - Getting there and
away
If you're planning a trip to Cherbourg
from the UK, Poole is an excellent
option. The port is easily accessible
with a choice of routes into town.
Excellent trunk road access allows you
to arrive from anywhere in the UK with
ease.
By road: Poole is linked by the
A31 to the M27, and from there to the M3
to London. The A350 runs north to
Bristol, and the A35 to Dorchester and
Exeter. Once in town, drivers are
advised to head into the town centre and
then follow signs for the port.
By rail: Poole railway station is
centrally situated and is about 20-25
minutes walk from the ferry terminal.
By coach: Passengers should
contact their local coach station or
National Express for schedules and
information.
By taxi: Taxis can be found
waiting outside the terminal for ship
arrivals and departures.
Poole Ferry Port & Terminal
Facilities
Brittany Ferries started this route in
June 1973. The ferry terminal is located
in Hamworthy, which is accessed across a
lifting bridge over the mouth of Holes
Bay and Poole Harbour. At the terminal
there are commission-free bureau de
change facilities, car and caravan
parking and, in the summer months, a
restaurant and bar.
Baby changing room: There is a
baby-changing facility within the toilet
block in the vehicle check-in lanes.
Showers: Shower facilities are
available in the modern toilet block
near the car check-in lanes.
Shuttle Bus: There is a shuttle
bus, which runs between the passenger
terminal and the ship for foot
passengers
Telephones: There are coin
payphones in the terminal.
Parking: At the present time
there is a parking facility opposite the
terminal. Caravans cannot be left in the
car park but can be parked 'overnight'
in the car lanes for a £5.00 fee. For
the latest accurate fees please consult
your travel agent.
Cafeteria: There is a snack
bar/buffet that opens during ship
arrivals and departures (summer season
only).
Snack Bar/shop: There is a snack
bar that also sells continental motoring
accessories, near the car check-in
lanes. It is open most days during the
summer season.
Bureau de change: The bureau de
change is open for all ferry departures
and during normal office hours.
Services for the Disabled: The
terminal is a single storey ground floor
building that can be accessed via a
gentle ramp. Disabled toilets can be
found in the modern toilet block near
the car check in lanes.
Left Luggage: There is a left
luggage facility. There is a small daily
charge.

Plymouth Terminal Guide:
Plymouth Ferry Port - Getting there
and away
By Road: If you're driving from
London, take the M4 west to the junction
with the M5 going south to Exeter. From
Exeter, head southwest on the A38 to
Plymouth.
By Train: Frequent trains run
from London's Paddington Station to
Plymouth in 3 ¼ to 4 hours. For rail
information, tel. 0845 7484950 in the
UK. Plymouth Train Station lies on North
Road, 5 minutes from the City Centre.
Western National Bus no. 83/84 runs from
the station to the heart of Plymouth.
By Coach: National Express has
frequent daily bus services between
London's Victoria Coach Station and
Plymouth. The trip takes 4 ½ hours. Call
National Express on 08705 808080 for
schedules and information.
Plymouth Ferry Terminal Facilities
For sailings to Roscoff in Brittany and
Santander in Spain, Plymouth is the
ideal departure point. The ferry port
offers good parking, refreshments and a
commission-free bureau de change..
Baby changing room: There is a
baby care/changing room on the first
floor.
Cafeteria: There is a cafeteria
in the terminal which opens for ferry
arrivals and departures only. In high
season there is also a takeaway facility
in the car lanes.
Bureau de change: There is a
Bureau de Change located at the Terminal
Counter, open from 9am to 5.30pm, seven
days-a-week and for all ferry
departures. There is also a Thomas Cook
bureau de change in the terminal, which
is also open for ship arrivals and
departures.
Cash Point : There is an ATM cash
point in the main terminal building.
(charge applies).
Disabled Services: Access to the
first floor of the terminal is via an
escalator or lift. Disabled toilet
facilities can be found next to the car
check-in lanes and also on the first
floor of the terminal (access by lift).
Wheelchairs are available from the
passenger terminal. These must be
requested at the time of check-in.
Left Luggage: There is no left
luggage facility although there are
lockers at Bretonside bus station.
Parking: The ferry port offers
good parking charged at £3.70 per day if
you plan to leave the car.
Shuttle Bus: There is no shuttle
bus between the ship and the terminal.
Telephones: Payphones can be
found in the terminal on the first
floor, and also in the car lanes.
Terminal Opening Hours: The
terminal is manned from 9.00 to 17.30
and for all ship arrivals and
departures.
Tourist Information: The Tourist
Information Centre is at the Island
House, The Barbican (01752 304849). A
second information centre, Plymouth
Discovery Centre, is at located in Marsh
Mills, Plymouth (01752 266030)

Cherbourg Terminal guide:
Cherbourg is one of the best-connected
ferry ports in France. Brittany Ferries
sail to Cherbourg from Poole and
Portsmouth and offer the fastest
available crossing to this port via the
high speed ferry service from Poole.
By Road: Take the N13 to Caen and
the D901 to Cherbourg. Once in
Cherbourg, it is easy to find the port,
which is clearly signposted.
By Taxi: Taxis can normally be
found outside the terminal. If there are
no taxis available, passengers are
advised to contact the Brittany Ferries
information desk in the terminal.
By Bus: There is a shuttle bus
that runs between the terminal and the
town centre. It operates in conjunction
with ship arrival and departure times.
This service is temporarily out of
service until further notice.
By Train: To walk from the
terminal to the railway station takes
about 40 minutes.
Cherbourg Terminal Facilities
Baby changing room: There is a
baby care/changing room on the first
floor, accessible by lift.
Bar: The bar is open all day,
from early morning until late evening.
Bureau de change: There is a
Bureau de Change facility which is open
for ferry arrivals and departures.
Disabled Services: There are
ramps for disabled access and disabled
parking spaces in the car park. Disabled
toilet facilities can be found in the
terminal.
Left Luggage: There is no left
luggage facility.
Parking: There is a car park
situated in front of the terminal.
Parking here is free but for short stays
only. There is also an area near the
terminal where cars and caravans may
park for the night. Also near the
terminal, there is secure parking for
longer stays.
Showers: Showers can be found in
the terminal. They are open for use
during ship arrivals and departures.
There is no charge for usage.
Shuttle Bus: The Shuttle Bus
service between the Passenger Terminal
and the Town Centre has been suspended
until further notice.
Souvenir and Paper Shop: This
shop is open for arrivals and
departures.
Telephones: Phonecard payphones
can be found in the terminal. Phonecards
can be purchased from the freight office
counter or the Bureau de Change. There
is also a credit card payphone.

Caen
Terminal Guide:
The newest ferry-port on the Channel,
Ouistreham is just 15 kilometres north
of Caen.
By Car: The terminal is well
sign-posted from the main access routes
around Caen as "CAR FERRY". The
autoroute is close to the port and
offers easy access to Paris, the Loire,
the south, and Brittany. Take the N175
to Mont St Michel and Brittany. The N13
connects Caen to Bayeux and Cherbourg,
and the N158 leads to Le Mans and the
Loire Valley.
By Taxi: There are usually taxis
waiting outside the terminal for ship
arrivals and departures. If there are no
taxis, the tourist information desk can
call a taxi for you.
Taxi fares from the terminal to Caen
train station range from 25€ during the
day (7am to 7pm) to 40€ in the evening
(7pm to 7am)*.
By Train: The nearest railway
station is in Caen, about 18km from the
port.
By Bus: There is a shuttle
service between Ouistreham and Caen.
This service does not run for the
evening ferry arrivals in Ouistreham.
Caen Terminal Facilities
Baby changing room: There are no
baby care/changing facilities.
Cafeteria/Bar: The bar is open
from 06h30 to 23h00.
Bureau de change: There is a
Bureau de Change facility, which is open
for afternoon and evening sailings
during the week but not for morning
sailings or during the week end.

terminal.
Left Luggage: There is no
facility for left luggage at the
terminal.
Shuttle Bus: There is a shuttle
bus which transports foot passengers
between the passenger terminal and the
ships for arrivals and departures.

Roscoff Terminal Guide:
By Car: Take the D69 to Brest,
Quimper, and the South; the N58 will
take you to Morlaix, and from there you
can take the N12 to Rennes. The D785
takes you to Perres Quirec.
By Train: There are trains from
Roscoff to Morlaix that take 29 minutes.
From Morlaix you can take TGV’s to the
rest of France. Roscoff’s SNCF train

By Bus: A regular bus service
runs between Roscoff and Morlaix and
takes 35 minutes.
Roscoff Terminal Facilities
Described as the Channel’s most least
obvious international ferry port,
Roscoff has grown significantly since
its opening in 1973 and its terminal was
refurbished in 1998.
Baby changing room: There is a
baby-changing facility.
Cafeteria/Bar/Restaurant: During
the winter when sailings to and from
Roscoff are limited the bar/restaurant
is open from 10am-7pm. During the summer
months it is also open for ship arrivals
and departures.
Bureau de change: There is an
automatic change machine that exchanges
English Sterling, Euros and Irish Punts.
Services for the Disabled: All
facilities in the Roscoff terminal are
situated on the ground floor, which is
accessible by small ramps from the main
parking area. Disabled toilet facilities
are available in the terminal.
Left Luggage: There is no left
luggage facility.
Parking: There is a large open
car park in front of the passenger
terminal. There is no charge for parking
here but it is at the owner’s risk.
There is also an area where cars and
caravans can park overnight.
Newspaper/Gift Shop: Newspapers
and a small selection of souvenirs can
be bought here. The shop is open during
June, July and August to meet ship
arrivals and departures.
Showers: Shower facilities are
available in the terminal and are open
during the terminal’s opening hours. The
showers are token operated and can be
purchased from the bar.
Tourist Information: The tourist
information desk is open in the terminal
during July and August. The tourist
information office in the town centre is
open throughout the year.

By Road: A toll-free dual
carriageway, the N137, connects St Malo
to the rest of the France. To get to the
port, follow signs at each exit for St
Malo to the Terminal Ferry du Naye.
By Taxi: Taxis are available
outside the terminal.
By Rail: It’s best to take a taxi
to the rail station from the ferry
terminal. The SNCF Station is in the
Square Jean Coquelin.
By Bus: There is a bus stop about
three minutes walk from the terminal
next to the swimming pool.

and also in the car compound.

Santander Terminal Guide:
By Car: Santander provides good
road connections to the whole of Spain
and the South of France. Take the N634
westwards along the coast towards
Coruna, and eastwards towards Bilbao.
The N611 goes south to Valladolid and
the N623 links the ferry port with
Burgos. To get to the port from town
follow the signs to Puerto, Zona Maritma
or Ferry.
By Train: The station is 5mins
away from the ferry with services to
Bilbao and Oviedo. RENFE is the national
railway system and has links to almost
every town in Spain.
By Sea: Brittany Ferries operates
a twice weekly service to Plymouth.
By Coach: There is a coach
station in Santander, about 5 minutes
from the terminal and there are regular
services to and from Madrid and Bilbao.
Santander Terminal Facilities
Santander is a bustling regional capital
and a popular holiday resort that offers
award-winning sandy beaches, excellent
shopping and a host of restaurants, bars
and hotels. The ferry port is in the
centre of town, so a car is not
essential. However, the stunning
surrounding countryside and mountains
are well worth exploring.
Baby changing room: There is no
baby-changing facility.
Cafeteria/ Newspaper/Gift Shop:
The cafeteria is on the ground floor &
there is a gift shop which sells
beverages & food.
Bureau de change: There are no
exchange facilities in the terminal.
There are a number of bureau de change
in the town centre.
Car Hire: It is not possible to
hire a car from the terminal.
Services for the Disabled: Access
to the terminal is possible for disabled
passengers. There are disabled toilet
facilities.
Left Luggage: It is not possible
to leave luggage in the terminal.
Parking: Parking is only
permitted for dropping off and picking
up. Passengers wishing to park for
longer must use one of the paying car
parks nearby.
