St Andrews

1 Day Tour from Edinburgh

Departing from Edinburgh we will soon be crossing the Firth of Forth by the graceful Forth Road Bridge as we journey into the Kingdom of Fife. We will make our way to the delightful village of Falkland where we will step back in time when we visit this traditional Scottish village and explore Falkland Palace (optional), the country residence of the Stuart Kings and Queens. The gardens contain the Royal Tennis Court which dates from 1539 and are the oldest in Britain!

On our arrival in St Andrews there will be a short orientation tour of the town before enjoying an extended stop during which time you can explore the many attractions from the ruins of the 13th Century castle to Scotland’s oldest university. Of course St Andrews is renowned as the home of Golf and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, the games ruling body for much of the World, is located overlooking the Old Course. The R&A organizes the Open Championship which has taken place in St Andrews on many occasions. You can learn more about the game and the important role that this community has played in its development by visiting the British Golf Museum (optional).

The remainder of the afternoon will be spent discovering the picturesque fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife as we meander our way back to Edinburgh.
