8 days/7 nights

Day 1 Spend the day exploring Scotland’s magnificent capital city, Edinburgh Castle and The Georgian House. Overnight at 4* Dalhousie Castle (or similar).

Day 2
Take leisurely tour through border country to visit Priorwood Gardens and then onto Newhailes, an amazing survial of early 18th century decorative art. Overnight at 4* Dalhousie Castle (or similar).

Day 3
Travel north to visit Hopetoun House and Gardens just outside Edinburgh before continuing to Alloa Tower which is the ancestral home of the Erskine family. Finish the day in St Andrews, the home of golf and a historic seaside University town. Overnight at 3* Fernie Castle (or similar).

Day 4
Begin your journey with a visit to House of Dun a beautiful Georgian House which is surrounded by fabulous Victorian gardens. Continue and visit Craigievar Castle, this is a fairytale-like castle which exemplifies some of the best Scottish Baronial architecture. Then continue to Inverness, capital of the Highlands for overnight at 4* Tulloch Castle (or similar).

Day 5 Follow the whiskey trail to Dallas Dhu Distillery to sample outstanding malt scotch whiskey and see the craft behind the famous drink. Don’t drink too much as you need to drive to the fine 16th century Brodie Castle and Gardens which is packed with art and antiques including fine French furniture; English, continental and Chinese porcelain; and a major collection of paintings, including 17th-century Dutch art, 19th-century English watercolors, Scottish Colorists and early 20th-century works. Admire the ruined splendor of Elgin Cathedral. Return to 4* Tulloch Hotel (or similar).
Day 6 This is an extended day of sightseeing in some of Scotland’s most outstanding wilderness landscapes. Take the spectacular scenic road across the mountains to the west coast and the Isle of Skye. Return along the banks of Loch Ness to try to spot the “Monster” viewing the romantic lakeside ruins of Urquhart Castle. Return to 4* Tulloch Hotel (or similar).
Day 7 Visit the Culloden Battlefield visitor centre where the course of British, European and world history was changed on the 16 April 1746 when the ferocious European war came to Scotland - dividing families and setting clan against clan to determine the destiny of the British crown. Travel south into the land of Braveheart and Rob Roy legends to explore 500 year old Stirling Castle – the grandest of all Scotland’s castles where many Scottish Kings and Queens were crowned. At the nearby battlefield site of Bannockburn, the visitor centre gives a clear insight into the momentous battle between the Scots and English in 1314 Take some time to explore the historic narrow streets of Stirling before continuing towards Glasgow for overnight at 4* Sherbrooke Castle (or similar).
Day 8 Return home, add another tour or an extra night.
